Silver sheen obsidian is a type of volcanic glass known for its striking silver or metallic sheen that appears to shimmer within the dark base color. This effect is caused by the presence of microscopic inclusions of feldspar or cristobalite within the obsidian, creating a reflective surface that gives the stone its unique appearance. In some pieces of silver sheen obsidian, the silver sheen can be visible even without additional lighting due to the way the inclusions are oriented and distributed within the stone, allowing light to reflect off them naturally and creating the distinctive silver sheen effect.
