A Bit About Hematoid Quartz

Did you know that hematoid (AKA fire quartz, ferruginous quartz) and golden healer quartz are clear quartz with hematite inclusions? Yes, hematite can create both yellow or red inclusions.

Hematoid quartz is a type of quartz crystal that contains inclusions of iron oxide, giving it a distinctive yellow to red coloration. These colors are a result of the presence of hematite within the quartz structure, which can vary in concentration and distribution, leading to different shades of yellow and red. The iron oxide inclusions can form as thin coatings or needle-like structures within the quartz, creating unique patterns and textures. Hematoid quartz is commonly found in regions where iron-rich minerals are present, and its coloration is a result of natural geological processes.

Limonite and hematite are iron oxides (limonite is hydrous, meaning water is in its compound) that are often found as gemstone inclusions in quartz.
